Larry Charles Youngblood, 64, was a loving husband of 43 years to his adoring wife, Edith Skinner Youngblood. He was a genuinely caring father to his son, Taylor Charles Youngblood. Born to Charles Leo Youngblood and Clara Jo Youngblood in Lufkin, Texas, Larry worked as an electrician for most of his life. He proudly worked for the University of Houston for more than 25 years. During his working years, his primary passion was traveling with his family. Whether it was overseas or just down the road, he loved nothing more than to take in the wonders of the world. Often, he would scour the cities he visited for rare and exciting cookbooks. He loved trying new recipes when he was home to pass the time between trips. After retirement, Larry found a new passion, saltwater fishing. Though he never lost the desire to travel, the love of fishing grew and grew in his heart. He loved nothing more than to be surrounded by his fishing buddies while waiting in anticipation for one of the reels to sing. The louder the song, the larger the fish. Larry lived for the excitement of fighting and landing large fish. Although, he often caught those nasty Gafftops that were just a few inches long. His buddies loved to poke fun at how proud of these tiny victories he was. We believe he is basking in true peace as he casts for eternity from that mile-long pier we all know to exist. He was preceded in passing by his father and mother. He is survived and cherished by his loving wife, son, and mother-in-law, Grace Skinner. He is also survived by his sister, Cathy Rice, his brother-in-law Rick Rice and their children: Kira Johnson and Jason Peterson. May he rest in peace, know how much he was loved, and land all of the trophy fish he could ever desire.
