Lazelle Morgan Flynn passed from this life in Pasadena, Texas on June 13, 2023 at the age of 98. Lazelle was a strong woman with integrity and pride in her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Lazelle was born on July 18, 1924 in Brinkman, Oklahoma to Sherman and Oral Vinson Morgan. She spent her youth in rural southwestern Oklahoma (Greer County) helping her mom and dad with farm chores and excelling at school. Upon graduation from high school in 1942, she married Raymond Flynn and soon thereafter moved to San Francisco, California in support of the war effort where they remained until the end of World War II. Ray and Lazelle ultimately settled in Pasadena, Texas, and started their family of a son (Bob) and a daughter (Susan). Lazelle enjoyed the life of a working mother employed by Olin Mathieson/ExxonMobil for more than thirty years.
Her church, First United Methodist Church, Pasadena, was a source of Lazelle’s pride, where she was a loyal member for more than 74 years, volunteering in several areas of ministry. Lazelle was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Raymond B. Flynn, father Robert Sherman Morgan, mother Oral Morgan, and siblings, Dee Morgan of Mangum, Oklahoma and Sue Morgan Mayes of Deer Park, Texas.
She is survived by her two children, Robert Leslie Flynn and wife, Patricia of San Leon, Texas, and Mary Susan Flynn Harrel and husband Dean of Pasadena, Texas; four grandchildren, Leland Harrel, Kent Harrel (Candace), Kyle Flynn (Sherissa), and Kate Longendyke (Nick); and one great-granddaughter, Maliyah Lazelle Flynn. Lazelle was excited to hopefully meet a great-grandson, Hudson Flynn Longendyke, set to be born in July. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In her last days, Lazelle had wonderful, selfless caregivers whom the family would like to thank: Judy Bodine, Carmen Martinez and Olga Palmerin. It is with sadness we say goodbye yet gladness that we release Lazelle Morgan Flynn into the loving arms of her Lord.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Lazelle to Revive Global Methodist Church or your favorite charitable organization.
