He is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Linda Vaughn, his parents and his older brother Ernest Garland Vaughn. He is survived by his wife Levita Vaughn; son Len Vaughn and wife Michelle; stepson Patrick Zink; brother Millard Vaughn and wife Barbara; sister Myrtle Ann Burleson; brother in law David Bonds and wife Becky; brother in law Ronald Bonds and wife Janet. Lenard is also survived by his grandson Tyler and granddaughter Briley as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Upon graduation from Pasadena High School, Lenard served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1964, honorably discharged as a Sergeant. He received medals and commendations for his Marksmanship and Sharpshooter skills.
After the military, Lenard acquired a job as a mail clerk and enrolled in night school at the University of Houston. The culmination of his efforts was a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences and a 36 year career with Ethyl Corporation as a steadfast, loyal employee, retiring as a Human Resources Manager.
Second only to his love of family was his passion for hunting and fishing and the great outdoors. As a youth, Lenard honed the skills that he would use and teach others about through out his life. One of his greatest joys was sharing this passion with his son. He spent many hours with his son and brother in law on the waters of Toledo Bend and Lake Fork throwing top waters and refusing to use live bait.
Lenard was a humble man of high character and integrity and took pride in all that he did. He will always be remembered for his constant willingness to help others no matter the situation or time of day; for being an all around handyman and a world class piddler.
