

Leovigilda (Nida) Zoleta Aveno, of La Porte, passed away on September 1, 2026, at the age of 97.
Nida was born on August 20, 1929, in Lucban, Quezon, Philippines. She grew up and attended schools in Lucena City but moved frequently due to the Japanese invasion of the island. She married Sergio Aveno in 1950. Together, they built a life and raised seven children. Nida worked as a tailor and dressmaker.
In her late 40s, Nida moved to California, where she worked for several different companies in Silicon Valley.
Nida had a keen sense of humor and loved to crack jokes. She was also very generous, kind, and loyal to her family and to others.
In her younger days, Nida loved attending parties and dancing. She also loved to travel and visited many different states and countries. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. In her 80s, she discovered Facebook and enjoyed using it to stay connected and interact with family and friends online.
Nida will be deeply missed by her seven children and their spouses: Conrad and Sabina, Norie and John, Sam and Vivian, Butch and Esther, Richard and Ruth, Gilbert and Eileen, and Marlene and Shannon; her 17 grandchildren; her 25 great-grandchildren; and her niece and nephew, Ruby and Rolly.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Sergio Aveno.

A Committal Service will be held at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505, US, on September 13, 2026, from 11:00 am to 11:30 am.
