Linda was born on April 7, 1943 in Lafayette, Louisiana to Beatrice and Paul Witkovski and was the oldest of two children. She attended Mount Carmel High School until her graduation in 1961 and afterward, pursued a Nursing degree from Hotel Dieu Nursing School in Beaumont, Texas. Linda graduated from Nursing school in 1963 and passionately served the healthcare community in the Southeast Houston area for over 40 years until her retirement from Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital in 2008.
A compassionate daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Linda was loved by all who knew her. It was rare that she ever met a stranger, as she welcomed everyone with open arms. She was honest and straight forward in the most loving and tender way and her quick wit and timely sarcasm were her best character traits. Linda loved hard and was passionate about many things in her life, her family most of all. There was nothing that she enjoyed more than a family gathering, whether it be her children and grandchildren, or time spent with her cousins and close friends. She was a proud, southern Louisiana Cajun woman who loved to feed her family and friends a good roast or gumbo, but most of all just enjoyed the conversations and laughter that accompanied those meals. Linda was also an avid sports fan and could outmatch most others in long conversations when it came to her beloved Houston teams.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Mike Witkovski and husband, Elden Bruce. She is survived by her children; son Mike Rice and wife Kim, daughter Michelle Richendollar and daughter, Leigh-Ann Hill and husband Kacey, all of Deer Park. She is also survived by her grandchildren Ryan Rice, Mason Hill, Elizabeth Hill, Zachary Richendollar, Rebecca Matthews, Jessica Hodge and Tyler Allen, as well as nine great grandchildren.
The family will hold a private graveside service on Wednesday, April 8, 2020. However, due to current circumstances surrounding COVID-19 and federal social distancing guidelines, a public memorial service to honor Linda’s life is being planned for a future date to be determined. The family asks that you please keep them in your thoughts and prayers until then and join them when the time comes in order to properly honor this amazing lady that so many will profoundly miss.
In lieu of flowers and given Linda’s long career in healthcare, the family asks that you consider a donation to a charity currently assisting healthcare professionals fighting on the frontlines against the COVID-19 pandemic.
