

Linda Diane (Jones) Espinoza, 72, of Pasadena, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16th. She was born on November 3rd, 1953, in Beaumont, Texas, to Mary Ann Jones. Mary Ann later married Robert “Sonny” Jones, who became the loving father Linda deserved.
Linda graduated from J. Frank Dobie High School in 1971 and then enrolled at Lamar University, where she earned her degree and was a joyful member of the cheerleading team. Upon completing her degree, she began her career as a teacher and coach, both of which were true passions.
Linda taught and coached at a variety of schools within the Pasadena Independent School District, with the longest tenure at Southmore Intermediate, where she met the love of her life, Gerardo Espinoza. They were married on December 13th, 1977,and enjoyed 38 years of a committed, loving marriage until Gerardo’s passing in March 2016.
Upon retirement from Pasadena Independent School District, Linda began working for the City of Pasadena Parks and Recreation Department for 8 years which paired together her love of children and sports.
She was a fervent supporter of her children and grandchildren, especially as they competed on dance floors, courts, and fields across the country. You could always hear her voice over everyone else’s, offering support and encouragement.
The last several years of Linda’s life have been spent under the loving care of the medical team at Bahia Personal Care Home. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for the compassionate and consistent care provided to Linda. We thank the Lord for you.
She is survived by her daughter, Tasha Cockrell, and her husband, Rev. Casey Cockrell; her son, Robert Espinoza, and his wife, Anna; her daughter, Tiffany Espinoza; and her son, Eric Espinoza. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Claire and Kate Cockrell; Drake and Phillip Espinoza; Alice Exner; and Zayden Espinoza. She is also survived by her brother, Mike Jones, and his wife, Donna; her sister, Julie Melancon, and her husband, Rocky; her sister, Kim Jones; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Gerardo Espinoza.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bahia Personal Care Home.
Visitation will be held at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505, US, on May 26, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will take place at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505, US, on May 27, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Committal Service at Grand View Funeral Home & Memorial Park/Bethany Cemetery, 8501 Spencer Hwy, Pasadena, TX 77505, US, on May 27, 2026, from 11:00 am to 11:30 am.
