A long time resident of La Porte and Deer Park, TX, he was an active church member and Deacon at Monument Baptist Church. Always an artist at heart, he enjoyed creating fanciful and lush gardens, interesting art pieces, and delightful decorations for all to enjoy.
He is survived by his wife, Arlyn, their daughters Melissa, Carla, and Virginia, their husbands Michael, John, and Andrew, and grandchildren Rowan, William, and Morgan. He will also be forever loved and missed by his older sister Myrtis, cousin Sylvia Ann, and countless other nieces, nephews, family members, friends, and his beloved dog Bell.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Sylvia, his stepfather Bill, his brother Jimmy Ray, his grandmother Virginia, and his grandson Jay.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Grand View Funeral Home, Yellow Rose Chapel, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas 77505, on March 19, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
