It is with great sadness that we are here today delivering this eulogy for this remarkable daughter, mother, grandmother, wife and friend. On September 4, 1957 a wonderful angel was born named Lydia Ann Ramsey. Fast forward 16 years later Lydia wedded her soul mate, Bob Krummel. The wedding took place on a sunny Saturday, the tenth day of November in 1973. Bob and Lydia got married at the St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Deer Park, Texas. Lydia said that Bob had announced their engagement by word of mouth and it was as much as a surprise to herself as it was to everyone else. After the wedding, the reception followed in Deer Park, Texas on Kingsdale Drive where the Krummels decided to reside. Several months later in May of 1974, Bob and Lydia’s first daughter was born, Kristi Karmel. Two years later in August of 1976 the second of three girls was born, Nicole Maria. Then in April of 1979, the baby of the girls, Misty Marie was born. Lydia’s daughters would say that she was the best mother than anyone could ever have. They can truly say they benefited from her youth and admired her tenacity. Lydia wanted so much for her girls to make the best of their lives because that is what she did and she was very happy. Lydia’s days were filled with joy as she ran her daughters from tap to gymnastics back to figure skating then on to volleyball and choir concerts. And that was just during the day. At night, she prepared huge meals for her family and family friends. Even a few boys may have shown up when Bob allowed with a little bit of Lydia’s encouragement. As the girls grew older they continued to keep her on her toes. She continued to mold her children with an abundance of love and an amplitude amount of space for creativity, bounds of kindness and unlimited amounts of support. Only an Angel could surpass the amount of support that Lydia provided to her daughters. She encouraged her girls to live happily. Lydia had a very kind heart and had numerous friends and her house was often filled with the smell of wonderful foods, and the laughter of family and friends. Oh boy could she cook!! Cooking was her specialty. She was a culinary queen and many people enjoyed her delicious, delightful creations. She was known for sending her food with Bob, her husband to work. Bob’s coworkers told him that they relished her food and a special salsa that she made. They said that they would even go as far as paying for a jar of that special salsa. And sure enough Lydia made several jars and bottled it for sale. All Bob’s coworkers depleted her stock. That salsa was exactly how she lived. It was a jar filled with everything good, spicy and made with love. Later in life, the grandkids came. The eldest daughter Kristi gave birth to a 9lbs 6 oz baby girl named Elizabeth Brook Lake. Lydia’s first grandchild! Lydia was enamored with Brook’s beauty. Bob and Lydia were in awe to see how Lydia’s beauty had been passed on through the generations. Little did she know what she was creating. Lydia nicknamed her Taz like the Tazmanian Devil. Just a few years later in 1997, the first grandson was born, Robert William Lake, weighing in at 10lbs 5oz. Robert was grandma’s boy if there ever was one. Lydia’s nickname for Robert was Toad because his face was so round and his eyes set up high on his cheeks like a frog. Robert would do anything that Lydia asked him to do. It may not have been immediately, haha, but it got done. Lydia’s grandkids would say that they were spoiled through and through by their grandmother. They would say that grandma was always there to make them smile, to cheer them up and to wipe their tears. She was the greatest grandma in the world. Between spoiling the grandkids and preparing feast for her family, Lydia was Bob’s soul mate. She was his everything. She was his world. Oh and Bob could tell you some stories. Everyone knows that once Bob gets to talking that he just can’t stop. And if it was about racing, you had better just park it and sit a while and be prepared to listen. Bob would not only tell you about every race he ever won, but he would brag about what Lyd did to make it happen. Lydia would bring the house to the track. Boy was she prepared. She had everything under the sun that you would need or want. Lydia was Bob’s crew chief, manager, wife and number one fan. With Lydia’s direction and support she led Bob to the Super Street Championships. Not only did he win the championship, but he won Lydia. What a prize! Lydia loved her family and her friends. She loved each and everyone. Lydia will be missed by all. Please do not forget all the special times and silly things that Lydia did. Don’t think of her as missing when holidays pass. Just know that she will be there. She is in our hearts and in our minds. Keep her memory alive. You couldn’t have asked for a better wife, mother, or grandmother. Be happy for the times you spent together. God bless you Lydia. Your friends and family will miss you forever. Bob loves you Lyd. We send you three kisses in row, which was their special code for I Love You.
