Madylon Carroll Sampson
November 14, 1945 – November 19, 2019
Madylon "Carroll" Sampson, loving wife, devoted mother, proud grandmother, and great grandmother peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on November 19, 2019 at the age of 74. Carroll was born on November 14, 1945, the third child to Willie Clyde and Leonard Hooton. She was born in Jefferson, Texas and was raised in Hughes Springs, Texas. While attending high school, she found the love of her life. Danny and Carroll were married on July 26th, 1962. They shared 57 wonderful years of marriage together. Their love for each other stands as a legacy for all who knew them.
Danny and Carroll soon started a family and raised three beautiful children. Carroll devoted her life as a homemaker, mother, and volunteer at many school and youth organizations. She took great pride as a stay-at-home mom, where the family was the center of her life. There was never a dull moment as she taxied from volleyball and baseball games to football games, just to name a few. However, her life took on a new dimension as grandchildren came on the scene.
She loved her grandkids! Of course, she spoiled them as most grandparents do, and it was a joy to watch her interact with them. She made sure that each one was given the same measure of love. Birthday parties were no exception. She made cakes from scratch, and who could forget her "cake balls?" She supported them by attending their sporting events and performances. Maw Maw was their biggest fan, and she "cheered them on" all the way. And her grandkids were the "best" at everything.
Carroll was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Hooton, by her mother, Willie Clyde Haywood Hooton, and her brother, Elbert Hooton. She is survived by her loving husband, Danny Sampson, her daughter Jeanette and son-in-law Alan Leatherwood; Son, Anthony Sampson and wife Pam; son Kenneth Sampson and wife Maureen, her brother Jerry Hooton and wife Rosella, along with her grandchildren Ryan and Hillarie Sampson, Meghan and Patrick Petty, Nolan and Chelsea Sampson, Camrhen Sampson, Chad Leatherwood and fiancé Holly Smith, Caylie Sampson, and Ally Sampson. Great grandsons; Milo Sampson, Maverick Sampson, and Tate Petty, along with several nieces and nephews.

Carroll was a very special person. She was proud of her family and enjoyed sharing stories about them. She also had a beautiful yard that you could not help but notice when you drove by. She is with the angels now and watching her loved ones from above.
