Martha Jackson (DeLaCerda) was born on May 22, 1952 in Matamoros, Coahuila, Mexico and passed away Sunday, October 4, 2020. Martha was the second of eight children born to Merced H. DeLaCerda and Guadalupe DeLaCerda.
Growing up, Martha attended Pasadena High School. On February 12, 1973, Martha and Jessie Jackson were married. Among her happiest moments in life was when she met Jessie. Martha was a proud military spouse. Throughout her life, she lived in Pasadena, Texas, San Antonio, Texas, Ogden, Utah, Tokyo, Japan, Midwest City, OK, and Honolulu, Hawaii.
Martha was a devoted member of San Jacinto Baptist Church, where she served in the prayer blanket ministry. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, peacemaker, a friend to all, and was loved by those that knew her. In her spare time, she loved baking, traveling, and gardening.
She is preceded in death by her father, Merced H. DeLaCerda and brother, Michael DeLaCerda. She is survived by her loving husband, Jessie Jackson; sons, Eric Jackson (Kerry), Bryan Jackson (Rachel); daughter, Megan Jackson (Ryan); stepdaughter, Kerrie Larpenter; grandchildren, Hunter Dennis, Sara Beth Hayes, Matthew Beshears, Sydney Jackson, Marshall Jackson, Ryan Larpenter, Ella Larpenter; mother, Guadalupe DeLaCerda; sisters, Soledad Montiel Leos, Mary Salley (Tim), Vickie Michaelree (Andy), Terry Maris; and brothers, John DeLaCerda (Kim) and Michael DeLaCerda, numerous nieces and nephews all who loved their Nena dearly, and Sadie, her beloved poodle.
A visitation will take place on Saturday October 24, 2020 at 10:00am at St. Juan Diego Catholic Church, with a funeral mass to follow at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the American Liver Foundation or American Cancer Society.
