

Mary Jane Porter Humphrey was called to be with her Lord on June 13, 2015. She was born on November 29, 1926, in Johnson County and grew up in her beloved Galena Park. She married her handsome Second Lieutenant, Arthur Lee “Cotton” Humphrey; together they raised two children and built a business, Humphrey Supply Company. Eventually, they moved to Pasadena and spent many happy years there. Mary Jane loved her family and friends, calling them often to keep current with their lives. She loved golf, bridge, gardening, poetry, mysteries, country and western music, old hymns and chocolate. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her. She is preceded in death in her immediate family by her her husband, Cotton Humphrey , mother and father, Alta and Grady Porter, and her three siblings, Patty Derouen, Jack Porter, and Frances Bush. She is survived by her son, Steve Humphrey; her daughter, Jan Skaer, and husband, Mike; her granddaughters, Misty and Megan Humphrey , Rebecca Lisle and husband, Matt; her great-grandson, Andy Lisle; her step-grandsons, Oscar and Jason Skaer; and step-great- grandsons, James and Jude Skaer. She leaves behind a large and beloved circle of extended family and friends.
Visitation with family will be from 2-3:00 pm on Friday, June 19, at Grand View Funeral Home with a celebration of life to follow at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association, Galena Park Methodist Church, Asbury United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice. The family would like to extend special thanks to the wonderful staff of Colonial Oaks who assisted her in her final years.
