The morning of October 16, 2015, Nancy went home to be with the Lord after a battle with cancer. She was being visited and comforted by her husband Jerry Havlik, Sister Suzy Hepburn and friends Laura Schall and Michael Slater at UTMB hospital as Jerry held her hand throughout the night. Nancy was born in Pineland, Texas, on September 17th, 1955. She was the first child of Rev. Robert William Hillenkamp (deceased 1991) and Jane Lynch Hillenkamp. Nancy was blessed with such spiritual gifts of encouraging, teaching, giving to and serving others with a heart for Christ. During her child, teen and young adult years she blessed many people through her love of playing the piano. Many weddings, church services and gatherings were enlightened by the music she provided through her gentle fingers as she directed the piano to project the love that flowed through her heart to our ears. She attended and graduated from Lon Morris College in 1976, where she then continued her studies at Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 1978 . God placed in her heart to follow a career in teaching at several different Elementary Schools in the Houston/Aldine/Cleveland, Texas area for 27 years. So many young lives were touched as she showed compassion and hope to these children. During her teaching career she was able achieve her Master’s Degree from Lamar University. The Words and Phrases that friends have mentioned in the past few days as they describe Nancy are: A great encourager, always lifting others up, despite her own needs. A servant’s heart, as she always placed herself on the back burner and increased the focus on the needs of others. Some of Nancy’s attributes were a beautiful smile, a funny and contagious laugh, twinkling eyes, an unconstrained humor and also very musically talented. She was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Nancy is survived by her husband Jerry Havlik. Married on August 12, 1989, Nancy and Jerry shared their lives as servants for each other and their Godly union was displayed by their actions for all to see as a model of true “Oneness”. She is also survived by: Mother Jane Lynch Hillenkamp, Sister and Brother-in-law Suzy & Bill Hepburn, Brother and Sister-in law (John & Michelle Hillenkamp), Sister-in-law Lois (Cookie) Havlik, Step-daughter Jamie Standeford, Step- Grandchildren Ashlei - 21years, Jesse - 20years, and Stephanie - 16years, (2) Nephews, (2) Nieces, (7) Great Nephews, (2) Great Nieces.
