Nelson was an avid astronomer, enjoyed fishing, being with his family and his beloved dog. He is preceded in death by his mother Ruth Hutchins and is survived by wife of 38 years, Beverly; sons Brandon and Nicholas and beloved pet Spot. and numerous family and friends.

He worked for Houston Lighting &Power from 1981 thru 2005. He also worked for Sears Hardware and Ace Hardware. Nelson was the kindest most patient soul ever. He will be truly be missed by all.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Roberson, Mark Anderson, Richard Mata, Brandon Hagelgans, Jack Blevins and Eric Manning with Nicholas Hagelgans, Steven Vasquez, Danny Vasquez, Keith Taylor and Glenn Taylor as honorary pallbearers.
