She was born to Clyde and Winona Facundus on July 24, 1932. She met the love of her life, Thomas “Tom” Sweet in high school, and they married on February 12, 1953, after Tom’s service in the Korean war. The two were inseparable for the following 59 years until Tom’s death in 2012. They had 4 children: Cheryl Ann, Paul, Lisa, and Terrie.
Pat was a maker, a champion of the lost and found. She had a knack for taking things others had discarded, and restoring them into newfound splendor. She and Tom spent many years refinishing that “perfectly good” piece of found furniture together and would often gift the finished pieces to friends and family. Much of her joy in life was found in doing things with Tom. She had an artistic sensibility that showed in everything she touched. She prepared a wonderful home for her family, gracing every last detail with her vision of beauty. She was a servant to God and her church where she served on multiple committees. As a member of the Board of Trustees, she could be found painting, remodeling, spreading gravel in the children’s playground, and climbing in the attic of the sanctuary to change the air filter. She also served on the committee that prepares meals for Thursday’s Luncheons.
Pat is survived by her son Paul, her daughter Lisa and husband Mark, her daughter Terrie and partner Tammy, 5 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to all the family members and friends who nurtured and supported Pat over the years, including her long-time physician Dr. David McDonald, and his loving nurses and staff members.
