Paul Douglas Rice

Paul Douglas Rice also known as “Fire House“ passed away on September 1, 2014 in Webster, Texas at the age of 61. He was born on January 5, 1953 in Houston, Texas to Alton Lee Rice and Bessie Mildred Sikes Rice. Paul was a Houston Firefighter and retired from the Houston Fire Department after 22 years of service. He was a dedicated public servant, and strong supporter of MDA. Paul was a compassionate man, who would go above and beyond to assist someone in need. He was also an outdoorsman. He loved fishing and hunting and cooking barbeque. Mostly, Paul loved his family, and spoke often of his love for them to his many friends. Paul will be truly missed.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Bessie Rice; and his brother, Robert Rice. He is survived by his companion Alma Jara; 3 daughters, Kristen Rice, Kelly Rice-Arechiga and husband John Paul; Kari Sjolander and husband Darren; 4 grandchildren, Alek Ditto, Kynlee Arechiga, Paylin Sjolander, and Teagan Sjolander; 2 sisters, Peggy Urias and husband Faustino, Brenda Forney and husband Terry; 7 nieces and nephews; and numerous other extended family members and friends.

The family will receive friends for visitation at Grand View Funeral Home on Thursday, September 11, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 12, 2014 in the Chapel of Grand View Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Grand View Memorial Park.
