Peggy was born in Louisiana, on September 16, 1938 and eventually made her way to Texas after having a family of her own. Peggy found her calling in real estate and had the kind of charm that could sell a house before the “For Sale” sign even hit the yard. As a top-notch, award-winning real estate agent, she built a career on sharp wit, fierce determination, and the uncanny ability to make anyone feel as if they found the perfect home, whether it was a mansion or a starter home.
Peggy was the definition of Southern grace with a twist of mischief. She never left the house without her hair and makeup perfect, her signature red nails, several sprays of Paloma Picasso, and a smile that suggested she had the best gossip in town (and she usually did). She also loved to share her opinion and tell it like it is – whether you were ready for it or not.
Peggy was surrounded in life by family who loved her fiercely and will forever cherish her stories, her laughter, and the life lessons she so generously (and often bluntly) shared. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Pam Zamora (and spouse John Noel Avalos), who inherited her mother’s resilience and impeccable taste; her cherished grandchildren, Melissa Mansfield, Jeff Zamora, Joshua Johnston, and Kelcee Williams; deeply loved great-grandchildren, Morgan Blanton, Madison Hattaway, Mason Mansfield, Ethan Zamora, Everly Zamora, Theo Williams, and Remi Williams; beloved great-great grandchildren, Jax Klingen and Oakley Mansfield; her greatly loved sister, Gloria Green, sister-in-law, Bonnie Emerson and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who meant so much to her.
She is now reunited in heaven with those who preceded her in death, including her beloved daughter, Renee, who she is undoubtedly catching up on everything she has missed; her parents, Milton (Mea) and Marie Emerson, who she loved so dearly; her cherished brothers, Ray Emerson and Glen Emerson, as well as many other loved ones.
Peggy’s family invites all who knew and loved her to celebrate her life in true Peggy fashion–boldly, joyfully, and dressed to the nines. Her services will be held at Grandview Funeral Home in Pasadena, TX, with a reception to follow where laughter, memories, and perhaps a little harmless gossip will be shared in her honor.
