Phillip Wayne Largent, a longtime resident of Pasadena, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on August 4, 2026, at the age of 91. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, faithful friend, hardworking provider, and man of quiet strength.
Phillip was born in Lufkin, Texas, on February 5, 1935, to Otha and Geneva Largent. In 1955, he met and married Rose Ann Beaird. As of July 25, 2026, Phillip and Rose Ann had shared 71 years of marriage and were blessed with three daughters.
He served in the Army National Guard and was a devoted member of Southside Church of Christ and the Bliss Meadows Civic Club.
Phillip was a working man and proud of it. He was employed with the Lufkin Paper Mill for ten years and also drove an ambulance for the local racetrack. Never one to sit back and wait for something to come along, he used a strike at the paper mill as an opportunity to change his career path. After attending trade school for welding, he followed the work offshore and to Michigan, Alaska, and Scotland.
He spent time with Brown & Root, enjoyed mentoring students through the Explorer Program, and eventually retired from Equistar.
After retirement, Phillip and Rose Ann enjoyed spending time at their lake house, traveling across the country and abroad. He was known as a Master Tinkerer.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Charles; his sister-in-law, Jo; and his brother-in-law, Lee.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Ann; his daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Grand View Funeral Home, Yellow Rose Chapel, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas 77505, on August 14, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at Grand View Funeral Home on August 14, 2026, beginning at 2:00 pm.
