Piedad Garcia Florez

Piedad García Florez, passed away on January 6, 2026 at the age of 82. She is survived by her husband, Olegario Florez, and her three daughters, Claudia, Christina and Carolina, and 18 very cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She received her heavenly welcome by her parents, 2 of her 6 siblings, and her sweet grandkids, Jessica and Jose “Pepe” Angel.

Piedad’s warmth, laughter, and unconditional love filled our lives with joy. She always enjoyed her garden, sharing stories over coffee, being “welita” to her 16 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, and being Tia Piedad to countless people.

Her patience and humour shaped us into who we are today. We’re grateful for every memory and moment shared. She never had an empty house much less an empty table. Hundreds, if not thousands, of menudo bowls, sweet bread bags, barbacoa, and tamales were served at her table. So many games of lotería were also played at that same table til all hours of the night. Our mother always made time and coffee for anyone who came to her door.

Piedad will be remembered by her unconditional love, her generous spirit and contagious smile.

Piedad García Florez, falleció el 6 de enero de 2026 a la edad de 82 años. La sobreviven su esposo, Olegario Florez, sus tres hijas, Claudia, Christina y Carolina, y 18 queridos nietos y bisnietos. Recibió la bienvenida celestial de sus padres, dos de sus seis hermanos y sus queridos nietos, Jessica y José “Pepe” Ángel.

La calidez, la risa y el amor incondicional de Piedad llenaron nuestras vidas de alegría. Siempre disfrutaba de su jardín, su cafecito, ser "welita" de sus 16 nietos y cuatro bisnietos, y ser la Tía Piedad de tanta gente.

Su paciencia y humor nos formaron en quienes somos hoy. Agradecemos cada recuerdo y momento compartido. Nunca tuvo una casa vacía, y mucho menos una mesa vacía. Cientos, si no miles, de platos de menudo, bolsas de pan dulce, barbacoa y tamales se sirvieron en su mesa. En esa misma mesa se compartieron tantos juegos de lotería hasta todas horas de la madrugada. Nuestra madre siempre dedicaba tiempo y café al que llegaba a su puerta.

Piedad será recordada por su amor incondicional, su espíritu generoso y sonrisa contagiosa.

A visitation will be held at Grand View Funeral Home, located at 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX, 77505, on January 16, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Celebration of Piedad's Life will be at 2:00 pm on January 17, 2026. Immediately following, she will be laid to rest at Grand View Memorial Park.
