On October 10, 1933 in rural Dunklin County Missouri, in an area often referred to as the “boot heel”, Paul Junior Davidson was born to his parents Drusilla Magdeline Davidson and Vessie Herbert (VH) Davidson. As the eldest child of Drusilla and V.H. Davidson, he quickly established his role as a natural leader, following the great example of both of his parents who were loving role models who only wanted the best for their children. His parents instilled in him, the vital importance of service to others, and he literally grew up on a church pew, where he began his lifelong mission of service as an ordained minister of the United Pentecostal Church.
He later continued his mission of service to others, when he married Helen Miranda Pinnon who then joined Paul on this amazing journey to their true calling, the ministry. He could not have chosen a better partner in his decision to dedicate his life to the service of others than his loving wife Helen. In their sixty-four (64) plus years of marriage Paul and Helen would go on to establish churches in Missouri, Illinois, Alabama, and Texas, either starting a new church or helping to provide leadership and direction to a church that needed their help.
While dedicating his life to the service of others, Paul Davidson was also an outstanding father to his sons Paul and Matt Davidson, and his three daughters, Janice Dyal, Debbie Bohannon and Lisa Davidson. He always provided for his family and made sure all of their needs were met.
Paul also doted on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and reveled in being around each of them, as was evident by a recent photo in which he is smiling broadly as his beautiful great granddaughter, Erabella and his other adopted great grandchild, a black poodle named Rocco were both seated in his lap.
Paul’s love for family did not stop after he and his wife Helen raised their five (5) children, they also took three (3) other young men into their home, their grandsons, J.L. McNew, Mickey Blagg, and Jarrod Blagg. All were shown the same unconditional love shown to their own children which resulted in all three growing up to be fine, outstanding young men with families of their own.
Prior to experiencing declining health, Paul lived with his loving grandson Mickey Blagg, where he was provided a loving home by Kristi, and their children, Gentry, Madeline, and Mallorie. He loved walking about their La Porte area neighborhood greeting the neighbors and attending church with them at his beloved Apostolic Temple.
He was preceded in death by his wife Helen, his parents V.H. and Drusilla Davidson, and his brothers Jesse Earl Davidson, Vernon Arthur Davidson, William Louis Davidson, and granddaughter Mindy Kay Davidson.
Left behind to mourn his loss, but confident in the knowledge he has gone to a better place where he was reunited with his beloved Helen, are his sons Paul R. Davidson and his wife Gigi, and son Matthew Eric Davidson and wife Rebecca, daughters Janice Kay Dyal and husband Vince, Deborah Sue Bohannon and husband T.J., and Lisa Ann Davidson; his dear sister Nelda Mitchell, his favorite brother-in-law Jerry Mitchell, and a host of loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will miss him dearly, but can take solace in knowing that he is now reunited with his beloved Helen and his parents Drusilla and V.H. Davidson.
