

Richard Lynn Hoover, 73, of Pasadena, TX, passed away in his home on March 28, 2024, surrounded by his wife and daughters, after a brave and private battle with cancer. Known to family and friends as Rick, he was born in Pampa, TX on July 29, 1950, to Bartley and Gladys Hoover. He was married to Mary Hoover for 46 years.
Rick had a long career in training and development in the petrochemical industry and founded Gold Key Custom Homes - a home construction business contributing over 150 houses to the local community. He was a Vietnam Veteran, marathon runner, an active member of his Kingdom Hall, Harley-Davidson enthusiast, fishing fan, student of many fields of interest, and proud grandpa. He leaves a legacy of kindness and generosity, enormous inner strength, humor, and family.
He was preceded in death by parents Bartley and Gladys Hoover; Brothers Bart Hoover and Donald Hoover; sister Glenna Hoover; parents-in-law John and Liz Yurcek; and brother-in-law Jack Yurcek.
He is survived by his wife Mary Hoover; daughters Erin Hoover of Houston, TX, Natalie (Doug) Phanstiel of Carrboro, NC, and Michelle (Jeff) Meinholz of Humble, TX; grandsons: Miles and Wyatt Phanstiel of Carrboro, NC, and Cillian and Leo Meinholz of Humble, TX; sisters- and brothers-in-law, and many special cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A private family service will be held, and Rick will be laid to rest in Houston National Cemetery.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 5th from 1:00-3:00 pm, at Valley Springs Clubhouse. 13555 Valley Lodge Pkwy in Humble, TX. It is an open house event with light refreshments. The splash pad will be open to the kids.
