Roger was born in Laredo, Texas on October 20, 1953 to Harvey and Nila Kirk. He graduated from Deer Park High School in 1972, and was a loving son, father, grandfather, and friend.
Roger was a true outdoorsman who had a passion for fishing and hunting. He also found fulfillment in working with his hands, whether it was crafting, building, or repairing cars and boats. He was known for his work ethic, friendly demeanor, and his incredible ability to know where the fish were biting. Roger’s personality and love of the outdoors made him a perfect fit for supervisor positions in his long career with Oklahoma State Parks. Roger worked as a foreman in building and maintenance at Lake Murray State Park in Oklahoma for over 15 years. He then moved back to Pasadena, Texas and became a Construction Supervisor for the City of Pasadena. Disability forced an early retirement after 6 years of work, but he continued to work with his father, Harvey, maintaining and building the family business, Kirk Shop Rentals. His love for his family and friends was the most important thing to Roger, and his legacy will live on for many years to come.
Roger is survived by his maternal aunt, Dorothy Arington of Amarillo, Texas; his sister, Cynthia Turner and brother-in-law, Don Turner; his son, Josh Kirk and daughter-in-law, Karen Kirk; his daughter, Katina Morris and son-in-law, Clay Morris; his grandchildren, Vivian Kirk, Andrew Kirk, Zachary Morris and Katie Phillips; his nephew, Bryan Peck and numerous cousins and life-long friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Nila Kirk, and his long-time girlfriend, Eva “Marsha” Huggins.
