He leaves behind the love of his life of 44 years, Volanda Gonzalez and 3 sons, James Simmons, Jim Santos Gonzales, and Sam Simmons JR. born on his birthday. Momma Consuelo Gonzales, 13 grandchildren and many friends and family.
Sam worked as a diesel mechanic. He often said that “He was a jack of all trades and a master of none.” Although, he mastered many.
Over the years he built a life centered on family, faith, and work. Sam was known for teaching his sons and friends how to work on anything they desired to learn about.
Sam loved fishing. You woke up early or got left behind.
Sam finally got his dream shop, for all his tools and his tractor.
Visitation will be held at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505, US, on July 17, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. A Celebration of Sam's life will begin at 10:00 am. Immediately following, he will be laid to rest at Grand View Memorial Park/Bethany Cemetery.
