San Juana was born on January 27, 1950, in Ciudad Frontera, a town in the northern Mexican state of Coahuila to Carlos and Guadalupe Velasquez. God called San Juana home at the age of 73, on Friday, October 20, 2023, surrounded by all her family, just as she had wished it would be. Her legacy will continue on in everyone that loved and knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rodolfo Alaniz Jr., her mother Guadalupe Velasquez, her father Carlos Velasquez, her sister Maria Concepcion Gil, her brother Vergilio Velasquez, and her brother Pedro Velasquez.
She is survived by her beloved family which includes five children and their spouses: Martha, Rodolfo III (Laura), Cynthia (Desiderio Jr.), Carlos (Leo), Priscilla (Jeremy); grandchildren, Christina (Frances), Rodolfo IV (AJ), Thalya (Javan), Desiderio III (Cinthia), David; great-grandson, Atlas; her brother, Romeo and her sister, Guillermina.
Her childhood and teenage years were spent in her birth town. In her teenage years, she was involved in several beauty pageants in which she won awards, including the beauty queen of her city. Outside of pageants, she prioritized her education and pursued a career in business and financing. After graduating, she began her career working at a banking institution where the Lord would have it, she soon met her husband, Rodolfo. They were blessed to be married on June 29, 1969. Soon after getting married, they chose to move to the United States and begin their married life that lasted almost 51 years, beginning in San Antonio, Texas.
San Juana and her husband worked laboriously to provide the best possible life for their family. As a mother, she made sure to instill the importance of a strong work ethic. She was very nurturing, loving, and dedicated to each of her children and family members. She was a kind and sweet person to those that crossed her path. She taught us all to be kind to others and see our blessings. She loved to put a smile on someone’s face to make them happy or make them laugh. This is what she was all about.
San Juana last worked for Deer Park School District where she retired from. She had previously worked for Southmore Humana Hospital, in Pasadena, for many years. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchild. They all meant the world to her, and she showed it by her unconditional love. Always instilling in them the word of God. She was a beautiful, loving, kind, considerate and generous mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was very funny in her own way and her laugh was memorable. Her faith and confidence in God are resilient. She was a faithful member of her church and always shared her love for God with others, so that they can find the peace that she had found. She loved cooking, gardening, reading books, reading her bible, spending time with her family and helping others in any way that she could. She believed that if you treated a plant with love, the plant can only blossom into a healthy, beautiful plant. She was resilient and never gave up, even up to the last moment and under the most difficult circumstances. She is to be admired for the beautiful person that she was and will continue to be in our hearts and mind!
We want to thank everyone that touched her heart and helped her throughout her life!
