Hello, dear family of Shirley Rae, I just located this terrible news of the passing of a very wonderful friend. Since Shirley Rae recently moved from Sarasota to be with her daughter Susan, (and what a wise and prophetic decision that was) she's left many, many friends back here in Sarasota, particularly at Sara Bay Country Club where we all golfed together for so many treasured years. Shirley Rae & I played the Member-Member tournament together that our WGA featured every season, and we laughed a lot & frowned a bit but kept going back for more. One year we were successful, if only to win the Consolation Prize; that was okay with us! Shirley Rae has always been a very private person, and I've been honored to know our friendship was strong and supportive. I met her son Jimmy on one occasion when he was visiting his Mom here in Sarasota. I never met her daughter Susan, however I enjoyed every word she lovingly and often spoke of her. This I do know: these children meant the world to her, and I wish to send them my most profound condolences on the loss of their beloved Mother.
