On the morning of November 1, 2022, Stephen Clifford Wood peacefully passed away at the age of 65. Steve was the first child born to Joyce and James “Buddy” Wood in Starkville, Mississippi on March 26, 1957. After graduating from Sam Rayburn High School, Steve first attended San Jacinto Community College on a music scholarship where he played the trombone in the college’s jazz band. He continued to the University of Houston where he majored in mechanical engineering. After graduating, Steve began a career at NASA that lasted over a decade. One of the highlights of his work include collaborating with engineers from Japan on system integration for the International Space Station. Steve stayed an avid music lover and history buff throughout his life. He was known for loving all types of music. Steve is proceeded in death by his father, James A. Wood. He is survived by his wife, Gabriela, his mother, Mary Joyce, his children, Brigid and Matthew, his stepson, David, his siblings, Sharon, David, and Donnie, and several nieces and nephews.
