

Steven was born in Houston, Texas on January 14, 1966. He graduated from Saint Joseph High School in Victoria, Texas.
Steven is survived by his husband, Ernest McKelroy, from Kingwood, Texas. He is survived by his sisters Shari Combs of Kansas City, Missouri and Emily Dibrell and husband Kenan Dibrell of Premont, Texas, his brother Bryan Hester and wife Carolyn Hester of Victoria, Texas, his mother in law Martha and husband Andy McGuire of Buffalo, Texas, sister and brother in law Becky and Gabriel Sotelo of Houston, Texas, sister and brother in law Janet and John Ferro of Conroe, Texas, and brother and sister in law Johnnie and Donna McKelroy of Buffalo Texas. Steven is survived by numerous aunts, nieces, and nephews who affectionately called him "Uncle Steve." He had many friends from back home in Victoria to Kingwood and Galveston.
Steven enjoyed life and celebrated twenty six years of marriage with his loving husband. Anyone who met Steven adored him. He had a contagious smile, a goofy laugh, and he had beautiful blue eyes.
Steven attended some college but found he enjoyed working on video arcade games. He was employed by two different companies for a significant time. He later began working for two community pool companies. He loved working outside and was befriended by so many of the lifeguards and staff.
Steven loved the water and enjoyed the beach. He was very exited when he and Ernest purchased a condo in Galveston, Texas. Steven and Ernest created many memories during their time together. Steven loved dogs and had four during his time with Ernest. Dylan Asher, their loving toy schnauzer, misses him greatly. Steven enjoyed cars and trucks and loved his truck, "The Yellow Beast." Steven loved anything yellow!
Steven had numerous heart issues and had countless surgeries since 2015. As hard as he tried, his body couldn't handle any more.
Steven is preceded in death by his parents, father Charles Gorman and mother Cecilia Marie Henson Rice of Victoria, Texas, and grandparents Ernest and Emma Lee Joseph Henson.
A memorial service is pending and will be delayed due to issues with the pandemic. A small immediate family memorial service will be held. A second memorial service will be held at a later date on Galveston Island to accommodate a larger number of people.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to Steven's GoFundMe account to offset medical and funeral costs.
