Thomas, fondly known as Tom, Pop Tom, or Papa Tom, was born to Paul and Willie Mae Blevins, on May 19,1947 in Stevenson, Alabama.
Thomas Blevins served in the US Army as a Crew Chief in the 155th ASLT HEL CO during the Vietnam War. He served from January 24,1967 until he was honorably discharged on October 8,1968. He was awarded National Defense Service Medals which include: VCM, VSM, MKN M-16, AM, ARCOM, and 2 o/s Bars (Overseas Service Bars).
After a brief study of Architecture, Tom went on to become a skilled carpenter/contractor. He continued in this field until just a few short years before his passing. He was a sweet man who loved people, he had a big heart, and would help anyone in need. Through him we learned what it meant to love unconditionally, and he will be truly missed. He enjoyed watching old western movies, a strong cup of black Folgers coffee, reading Louis L’Amour books while drinking ice water and eating a big bowl of popcorn, crawfish season, Marlboro Reds, Whiskey & Coke, and watching his favorite team, Alabama Crimson Tide.
Thomas Blevins was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Blevins and Willie Mae Blevins, his brothers, Lonnie, Leonard, Willie James, and Robert Lynn Blevins, two sisters, Nora Byers and Elva Lou Blevins.
Survivors include his sister, Eva Belle Diaz of Pomona, California, his children, Ronny Blevins and wife Liz of Brazoria, TX, Eric Rushing of Livingston, TX, Michelle Blevins Alexander and husband Robert of Tomball, TX, Teresa Cochran and husband Randy of Houston, TX, and Kimberly Hollister of Brenham, TX, 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, numerous extended family members, and friends.
A graveside service for Tom will be held Friday, March 22, 2024 At 11:30 AM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
