Benjamin Thomas Weatherly is at peace with the Lord after passing away on Tuesday, September 18, 2018. He was born in Garrison, TX on October 15, 1923, to Albert Crittenden (Crit) and Fannie Estelle (Stella) Weatherly. He was the youngest of 9 children.
He served in the U.S Navy during World War II. After his service he was employed by Western Electric in Houston. He met and married Mary Lucille (Mary Lou) Green of Carrolton, IL on August 10, 1947. They were married for 67 years. Mary Lou passed away on February 17, 2015. They had 3 children, 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Thomas went to work for Shell Oil Company in Deer Park, TX in 1948 and worked there until his retirement in 1981. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Pasadena. His favorite pastime was to watch sports on TV and support the Houston Texans and the Astros. He also loved to garden and he grew the best tomatoes. He was a great 42 domino player and loved to get his picture posted on the wall when he would win the monthly championship at his assisted living facility. Thomas will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm in the Chapel of Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Hwy, Pasadena, TX 77505. Thomas’s Celebration of Life will follow at 3:00pm. Interment Grand View Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that Memorial donations be made to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church of Pasadena or the Survivors of North Carolina fund.
