Tomasa Juana Tapia

Tomasa Juana “Janie” Tapia, of Pasadena, Texas, was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and “mom” to many. She left this earthly world on October 30th, 2023 completely healed into the arms of the Lord.

She was born to Angelica Nava & Tomas Tapia on October 1st, 1952 in Lubbock, Texas. She was the proud mother of four children, Jennifer Bee, Elizabeth Shackelford, Thomas Ochoa, and Christopher Ochoa.

Janie was a sophisticated woman with grit. She worked hard for everything she had in life and always had a smile on her face. She loved gardening in her yard and loved baseball. She loved cooking and always had a warm meal for anyone who came to visit. She was a “mom” to many, never judged you, and always provided love and support.

She retired from Akzo Nobel and spent her time with her children, grandchildren, and family. During baseball season, you could find her rooting for her favorite team, the Astros. She found a church family in Friends Church of Liverpool and love for the Lord that she shared with all.

Janie was predeceased by her father Tomas Tapia and mother Angelica Nava.

She is survived by her children Jennifer Bee and spouse Alfred Bee, Elizabeth Shackelford and spouse Justin Shackelford, Thomas Ochoa, Christopher Ochoa and spouse Katharina Ochoa, grandchildren Esaias Baca, Alfred Bee III, Chamberlin Bee, Ka’lena Bee and Maximillian Ochoa, sister Mary Helen Rojas and spouse Frank Rojas, brothers Manual Rodriguez and spouse Rose Rodriguez, Ruben Nava, Ezequiel Nava, and Danny Nava and spouse Scott Christy and many nieces, nephews, many that were adopted in love. She found a love that was beyond a special bond and Mike Schultz showed her a love that she had never experienced.

A visitation for Tomasa will be held Sunday, November 5, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505, followed by a memorial celebration of life at 3:00 PM.
