

Vaughan Andrew Lirette, Jr. “Val” passed away on October 2, 2012 in South Houston, TX at the age of 81. He was born on July 7, 1931 in Houston, TX to Vaughan and Beulah Lirette. Val graduated from high school in Baytown, TX and attended Lee Jr. College and the University of Texas. He was proud to have served his country in the United States Air Force as an airplane mechanic. Val was a long time resident of the city of South Houston. He enjoyed his morning and afternoon coffee with friends. Val had many unique interests, he was an artist and sculptor, and studied the universe and beyond. He loved creating model airplanes out of almost anything, building boats, and shooting his guns. Val is preceded in death by his parents, Vaughan Andrew Lirette, Sr, and Beulah Lum Lirette; 1 brother, William Lum Lirette; and 1 daughter, Nan Alice Lirette. He is survived by 1 son, Lee Dean Lirette and his wife Bonnie; 3 daughters, Linda Duncan and her husband Lloyd, Sheila Swindoll and her husband Charles, and Heidi Lirette; 6 grandchildren, Bonnie, Corey, Matt, Casey, Heather, and Haley; he is further survived by 2 step daughters Leila and Sandra, as well as numerous other extended family members and friends. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, October 5, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Grand View Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2012, with funeral services set to begin at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Grand View Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Sterling White Cemetery, Highlands, TX.
