Virginia Cantu Lopez

In loving memory of Virginia Cantu Lopez, who peacefully departed this world on September 19, 2026, at her sister’s home. Born on October 28, 1931, in Humble, Texas, Virginia was the beloved daughter of Anselma and Regulo Cantu. Her life was defined by love, devotion, and a steadfast commitment to serving others.

Virginia shared 48 blessed years with her devoted husband, Trinidad Lopez Jr., until his passing in 2002. Together, they raised five sons with compassion and strength: Joseph Thomas, David, Martin, John Robert, and Douglas Roy Lopez. Her nurturing spirit extended to her grandchildren, Christopher Gerard, Melissa Elaine, David Jr., Joseph Douglas Schneider, John Trinidad, Calvin Thomas, Maxwell Trinidad, and Benjamin Theodore, as well as her three great-grandchildren, who were blessed to learn from her wisdom and warmth.

An esteemed seamstress, Virginia was celebrated not only for her meticulous craftsmanship but also for her boundless generosity. She never hesitated to lend a hand, whether it was in tailoring garments or sharing her skills with those eager to learn. The quilts she crafted with her sisters remain treasured family heirlooms, symbols of her creativity and the family bonds she cherished.

Virginia's career at Stafford Elementary School, where she worked for 15 years from 1982 to 1997, was marked by her unwavering commitment to the students and community. Her kindness and willingness to help others left an indelible mark on the lives she touched, both at school and within her family.

She is fondly remembered and survived by her siblings: Gloria Christensen, Rachel Clemence, Rebecca Overcash, Robert Cantu, Elva Hardie, Raymond Cantu, Arthur Cantu, and Ernestina Hubbert. She now joins her parents Anselma and Regulo Cantu, siblings Ruben Cantu and Consula Cantu Arriaga, husband Trinidad, sons Joseph Thomas and John Robert, and grandson Christopher Gerard in eternal peace.

A Rosary and Service in Virginia's honor will be held on October 1, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the Grandview Funeral Home, located at 8501 Spencer Hwy, Pasadena, TX 77505. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Virginia's sisters for their loving care in her final years.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Virginia's memory to a charity of your choice. Her legacy of love and generosity will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Virginia will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
