Winfred was born in Richlands Virginia on December 31, 1938 to Bethal and Pearlie (Rowe) Logan. His childhood was spent running through the mountains of Jewel Valley Virigina.
After being told about a beautiful girl by his brother Eursel, he confidently asked Janet on a date. She said NO. Never one to give up, his persistence paid off and the rest is history. On March 2, 1959 he was united in marriage to Janet Breeden and moved to Pasadena TX the same year. It was here that they raised their three children Jeannie, Randy & Pamela.
He will always be remembered for his incredible work ethic. From a young age, he worked washing cars in the creek and starting his own business. He ran a car washing business after moving to Texas where he also drove the church bus for Austin Avenue Baptist Church. Later he joined Swift & Company as a supervisor and then moved on to become an operator at Lubrizol from which he retired after many years of faithful service.
Another one his best qualities was his sense humor. From a distance he might seem ornery, but soon after starting a conversation you would quickly realize that he was a big teddy bear filled with love and wisdom that he shared freely with anyone. In addition to his willingness to share his wisdom, was his generosity in all other areas. If you needed new car tires, food on your table or a prayer, all that was needed was knowledge of your need and he did his best to fulfill it.
All of these qualities were heavily influenced by his faith. Winfred accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior on March 2, 1982. This choice changed the way that he saw and lived his life. He shined his light brightly to those around him and led many to Christ. We know that he would consider this to be his greatest accomplishment and was so very proud to have served the Lord. Our hope is that we can continue his legacy.
Winfred is lovingly survived by Janet, his wife, partner, and best friend for over 62 years; their three children and spouses: Jeannie (Chuck) Hunter of Pasadena, TX, Randy (Valerie) Logan of Pasadena, TX and Pamela (David) Yeater of Livingston, TX; 8 grandchildren: Chastity (Joe Paul) Altman, Scott (Chynna) Prenzler, Randy (Brittney) Logan, Chaz (Ana) Hunter, Ryan (Brittney) Prenzler, Tyler Halvorson, Skyla Domingue and Christian (Randi) Domingue. 8 great-grandchildren: Randall Logan, Logan Prenzler, Reagan Logan, Tuff Altman, Brenton Prenzler, Juliana Hunter, Tessa Prenzler and Melanie Prenzler; One brother: Eursel (Pat) Logan of Murfreesboro TN.
