Yusuf Jamall Scott

Yusuf J. Scott born on November 30, 1976 and passed away on November 9, 2019. Those who were close to Yusuf called him Big U. He was often referred to as a gentle giant, since he gave the best hugs. Yusuf's larger than life heart and charismatic smile was his wife's favorite attribute. Big U loved football almost as much as he loved his community. After graduating from La Porte High School, Yusuf attended the University of Arizona. As a Wildcat, he was awarded the Morris Trophy in 1998 for best offensive lineman in the Pac-12. Yusuf's excitement for adventure paved his NFL career, where he played for the Arizona Cardinals and went on to play for the NFL Europe team, the Berlin Thunder. Big U's passion for seeing new places and learning new things brought him great enjoyment. So many people were inspired by him, however many did not know he was inspired by all. Yusuf was a humble family man and loving husband. Big U will always be loved and missed dearly.

Yusuf is preceded in death by his brother Jeremy Scott, his uncle Waymond Scott and grandfather Arthur Scott. Yusuf is survived by his wife Ashli Scott, daughter Ashaunti Anderson, mother Patrick Scott and brothers; Gainus and Sarah Scott, Jermaine Scott and Danielle Turner, Montez Scott, Hoza Scott, Savon Bright and numerous family and friends.

In lieu of flowers please donate on Big U's behalf to the La Porte Fire Department. Yusuf would've wanted any donations to go to his community. During the holidays the La Porte Fire Department has programs that will directly impact his community.
