On June 16, 2018, with heavy hearts and great sorrow, we said goodbye to our beloved Mom, Nana and aunt , Doris Covert Barcliff ,as she went home to our Lord, lead by those who’ve gone before her. Her husbands Malcolm Covert, Sr. and Donald C. Barcliff, daughter Sherry, grandsons Douglas, Donald and Jason, granddaughter Jennifer. She leaves her sons Malcolm (Oneita), Jan (Ginger), and Timothy (Mary Jo), 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Born Doris Lois Polmanteer, this 96 years young, amazing lady, was the founder of the Yates Day Care Center (Penn Yan & Dundee) now the Rainbow Junction and was often heard to say to many (now adults) “Oh, I had you in daycare.” She was the owner of the popular Gift Tree and was instrumental in organizing Star Shine, enjoyed still today.
A lady of great poise and grace, she was an inspiration to all who knew her, loved and adored by her family and many friends.
A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church, Main St., Penn Yan on Saturday, July 21st, 2018 at 11am.
