With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Benjamin Daniel Ellis, lovingly known as Ben and “Benny Boy,” of Austin, Texas. Ben passed away on April 9, 2026, at the age of 33, in the city where he was born, raised, and deeply loved.
Born on September 6, 1992, to Janice and Dan Ellis, Ben grew up in Austin surrounded by family, friends, and a community that would come to cherish his generous spirit. He was a devoted son, a loyal brother, and an extraordinary friend whose presence brought comfort, laughter, and unwavering support to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Ben had a rare and remarkable gift for showing up—truly showing up—for the people he loved. His loyalty was steadfast, his compassion genuine, and his ability to bring joy into any room was unmatched. He had a deep passion for music, something he loved sharing with others, and it became one of the many ways he connected with the world around him.
A proud Eagle Scout, Ben embodied leadership, service, and integrity from a young age. He continued to build on those values during his time at the University of North Texas, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. While at UNT, Ben also joined the Alpha Nu Chapter, where he became Brother Benjamin “Don Benny Boy” Ellis—a role and identity he carried with pride. His Brothers remember him for his heart, his humor, and the strength of his bond with them.
Ben will be remembered for his kind heart, adventurous spirit, and the deep, meaningful connections he formed throughout his life. His presence brought strength and joy to so many, and his memory will continue to live on in every life he touched.
He is survived by his loving parents, Janice and Daniel Ellis; his brother, Johnathan, “Johnny”; a large and caring extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins; and countless friends and Brothers who considered him family.
