Bonnie Bren Burlingame Dyer, our beloved mother and grandmother, left this life for heaven’s joys on April 29, 2026, at the age of 84. Bren was born to Robina “Robbie” and Russell Burlingame on June 18, 1941, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She moved to San Angelo, Texas while still young, and graduated from San Angelo High School in 1959. Bren kept in touch with many of her friends from San Angelo even after moving to Austin in 1962 with her then husband Wayne Jennings and young daughter Laurie Elizabeth. A few years later they welcomed their second daughter, Lisa Bren. Bren went to work at The University of Texas soon after Lisa’s birth, working as an administrative assistant in different departments until her retirement in 2001. On December 8,1993, she married Roger Dyer, who she met at Hyde Park Baptist Church, where Bren enjoyed Sunday School activities and volunteered for several years as a camera operator for the church’s televised services. Bren was a lifelong Texas Longhorn fan and enjoyed watching and attending UT football games even after her retirement: we used to joke that she “bled burnt orange”. She loved Jesus, but she also loved Elvis! Bren was a true social butterfly, always making time for taking girl’s trips, playing bridge and bunco, and shopping with a group of girlfriends who have known her for decades. Bren and Roger also traveled, going to Hawaii and on several cruises. Over the years, Bren had several dogs (and occasionally cats) that she doted on, starting with Snoopy and ending with Lady. Bren always loved spending time with her family, and when she became a grandmother, she was overjoyed. She was always happy to babysit, and Christmases at her and Roger’s house were always chaotic but joyful and created fond memories for her grandchildren and daughters. Bren was a bright light to all who knew her, a sweet, kind soul who never met a stranger. Her natural beauty and glamour were part of her charm. We are sad for our loss but are thankful that Bren is now enjoying her new life in heaven!
Bren is preceded in death by her grandparents Earl Sr. and Juanita Norton Rice (Papa and Mimi), her parents Russell Burlingame and Robbie Rice Renner, and her loving husband Roger C. Dyer, who passed away on January 15, 2026. She is survived by her daughters Laurie Jennings Tieman (John) and Lisa Jennings, and her grandchildren Phillip Tieman, Alyssa Tieman, Clark Limbaugh, Mason Limbaugh (Raelin), Dane Limbaugh, and bonus grandson Joel McMinn-Reyna. We were all incredibly blessed to have had her in our lives!
Services will be held on Friday, May 8th, at Hyde Park Baptist Church in Austin, in the small chapel on the first floor. Visitation will be from 12 – 1 pm with a Celebration of Life to follow from 1 – 2 pm. There will be a reception at Cook-Walden Memorial Hill in Pflugerville at 3, followed by interment at 4 pm. Please wear blue, Bren’s favorite color, to the service to celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the ASPCA in honor of Bren’s love for all animals.
