On July 11, 1947, Clifford Carpenter McCullough and Lula Mae Henry McCullough welcomed Clifford Henry McCullough. He passed peacefully at home with his loving wife, Janie, by his side along with his favorite sister-in-law and caregiver, Janice, on March 28, 2023.
As he grew up, he spent lots of time playing on the grounds of what used to be Tillotson College, located on the corner of E. 12th and I-35 and at his Grandmother Cleo's house who lived in Glen Oak on Hargrave St. in Austin, Texas. He attended elementary and junior high school and graduated from Old Anderson High School in 1965.
Clifford loved hanging out with his childhood friends Tommy, Douglas, and Johnny Boy. They gathered daily on the side of their houses and worked on their trikes and bikes. Not a day passed that they didn't fix a spoke, seat, or something.
Their creativity led to them becoming master wagon builders. Old skate wheels and leftover wood and rope became wagons that would go down the steep hill on Hargrave at an unbelievable speed. Seeing these hand-crafted wagons and how they guided them with only a rope anchored on the front skate wheels was amazing. After a good race, Clifford and his gang would head to the store to treat themselves to a cold RC Cola and some Grandma Cookies.
After graduating from Old Anderson High School, Clifford joined the Army, became Sergeant McCullough, and served in the Vietnam War. The U. S. Army recognized Clifford for his honorable service with a Purple Heart.
Clifford's passion was riding his Harley Motorcycle with his motorcycle family. Every year they rode their bikes to Terlingua-Big Bend and took weekend excursions. Clifford's other passion was technology and working with computers which lead to his careers at IBM and Dell. Clifford's heart desired to make people laugh, and he did it well. He had such a sense of humor; His humor lit up any room. Everybody Loved Cliff!
He is preceded in death by his parents. He leaves to cherish his life and his memory his wife, Janie Mae McCullough, Cameron Dean McCullough, Anissa Dionne McCullough (Candy), Victoria Lane Lee, other close relatives, and dear friends he loved.
