Cora Ann Eusery

Cora Ann Eusery, lovingly known as "Coco" and "Blue," passed away peacefully at her home in Pflugerville, Texas, on August 21, 2026. She was 81 years old. Cora lived a life marked by strength, generosity, hard work, service, and an unwavering devotion to family.

Cora was born Cora Ann Bolden on July 26, 1945, in Austin, Texas, to Jannie Bolden and Ras Bolden. She grew up in Austin alongside her brothers and sisters and attended L.C. Anderson High School. As a young woman, Cora participated in a beauty pageant and enjoyed spending time with her lifelong best friend, Ida Harrold.

After high school, Cora attended Huston-Tillotson College, where she majored in physical education. During her senior year, her life took a new direction when she married Edward Eusery Sr. Edward, who was serving in the military, met Cora while assigned to recruiting duty in Austin. They were married on July 31, 1970, in a ceremony officiated by Rev. Moore, the father of Cora's best friend, Ida. Their marriage grew into a partnership that spanned more than 56 years. The affectionate nickname "Blue" came from the playful teasing Cora and Edward shared about their complexions.

As a military wife, Cora built a home for her family wherever duty called. Their journey included Austin, Texas; Schweinfurt, Germany; Fort Knox, Kentucky; Osterholz-Scharmbeck, Germany; Fort Hood, Texas; Baumholder, Germany; El Paso, Texas; and, ultimately, Pflugerville, Texas. Her years of domestic and overseas travel gave her a broad range of experiences, but wherever the family lived, Cora remained the steady and protective center of their home.

Cora began her professional career as a supervisor in military food services. She later found meaningful work educating children with special needs through the U.S. Army Department of Defense and Pflugerville Independent School District. Across military food service and education, she completed approximately 25 years of service before retiring. Her work reflected her belief that every person should contribute to the world, work hard, and strive to become an asset to their family and community.

A Christian woman, Cora was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Her faith, service, and commitment to others were woven throughout her life. She was strong and deeply family-oriented - a fierce protector of those she loved. When Cora was in your corner, you knew it. You knew you were supported, and you knew you were loved. She was giving and generous, freely sharing her care, strength, encouragement, and resources with others.

Cora also knew how to enjoy life's simple pleasures. She was a devoted Lifetime Movie Channel fan, loved playing Bejeweled on her phone, and enjoyed the excitement of playing slot machines. She collected crystal and figurines and took pleasure in surrounding herself with beautiful things.

Cooking was another expression of Cora's love and generosity. She was especially known for her Texas beans, 7UP cake, sweet tea, and pancakes, although those closest to her knew she could cook just about anything. Her food nourished her family and helped make time together feel like home.

Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were among Cora's greatest sources of joy and could always make her laugh and smile. To her children she was "Momma," to her grandchildren she was "Granny," and to her great-grandchildren she was "Grandma" - names that reflected the special place she held in each generation of her family.

Cora's greatest legacy lives on in the family she loved and protected. She expected her children to work hard, live with purpose, contribute something meaningful to the world, and use their abilities to make a positive difference. Her strength, standards, generosity, and unmistakable love will continue to guide them for generations to come.

Family

Cora was preceded in death by her parents, Jannie Bolden and Ras Bolden; and her siblings Evelyn Smith, Helen Barrett, Emma Spears, and Jay Lee Bolden.

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Edward Eusery Sr.; her children, Angela Eusery and Edward Eusery Jr. (Felicia); her stepson, Lennell Eusery (Yvonne); her grandchildren, Jocelyn Eusery (Geoffrey Davis Sr.), Brittany Eusery, and EJ Eusery; her great-grandchildren, Geoffrey Davis Jr., Xavier Davis, and Luccas Eusery; her siblings, Mary Wright (Ronald Wright Sr.) and Richard Bolden; her lifelong best friend, Ida Harrold; and a host of extended family members, former students, colleagues, and friends.
