Diana Victoria Marin Barkley

Diana was a bright light in the lives of others. She was a positive person in her outlook on life. She loved her family, her church, her community, her husband, and her pets. She was born in San Antonio, Texas, in 1962. After graduating from Luther Burbank High School, she attended The University of Texas at Austin, graduating with a journalism degree in 1984. Like many UT grads, she remained in Austin after graduation. She worked for the State of Texas for thirty-five years, thirty-one years of which was with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). Diana was always honing and developing her work skills, and in 1996 she earned a technical writing certificate from Austin Community College. She then served on the board for the Society for Technical Communications (STC) in various capacities. She especially loved organizing conferences for STC, which gave her the opportunity to travel. Diana used her writing expertise to advance herself at TCEQ, where she became an editor for government publications. She was also interested in personal development, which led her to join Austintacious Toastmasters. In weekly meetings with her fellow Toastmasters, she honed her speaking skills and earned a Distinguished Toastmaster award in 2015. Also, for sixteen years, through Meals on Wheels, Diana delivered meals every Tuesday to the elderly and others isolated by disability. She eventually included her husband in making meal deliveries, which was one of the great joys of his life.

Diana was preceded in death by her father, Juan Gamez Marin, her mother, Rachel Rivera Marin, and her sister, Linda Marin. She is survived by husband, Larry M. Barkley, sister Irma Herrera (Gabriel), brother John Marin (Cheryl Alderman), sister Margaret Marin, and brother David Marin (Martha Galvan), as well as a great host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660, US, on July 31, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Funeral Service will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 500 Immanuel Rd, Pflugerville, TX 78660, US, on August 1, 2026, at 11:00 am.
