Earl Wayne Fletcher Jr, of Round Rock, Texas, was born on October 27, 1953, in Kingsville, Texas. He went on to be with the Lord on April 27, 2026, at the age of 72, because of a chronic declining health battle.
He grew up in Kingsville, Texas, and graduated from HM King High. He first came to know Christ as his savior on a youth retreat at Mathis Lake when he was sixteen years old. He attended Texas A & I University in Kingsville where he received his Bachelor of Science degrees in both Biology and Chemistry. He attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth and dedicated his life to serving Christ at Lanier Baptist Church in Austin. He served in a number of ministries throughout his life including pastoring a church, missionary work, and disaster relief. He secured his teacher certification and began teaching high school in 1990 and soon identified this as his primary ministry. In 1999, he achieved a Master of Science Degree in Microbiology from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He wrote and taught a number of different science curriculums in the public school system for 27yrs, before his initial retirement in 2015. He then returned to teaching at the university level for the better part of 9yrs, first at Southern University in Austin followed by the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, where he officially retired in 2024. Wayne had a strong work ethic and maintained at least one job from the young age of 10 until he retired at age 70. His greatest wish was that all his family would know, love, and serve the Lord. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Pflugerville and served as a deacon.
“I have no regrets. Any good I have done, or mistakes I have made led me to where I am. I know my walk with the Lord. I could be closer, but I certainly could be living without my Lord and that would be a tragedy.”
Wayne is preceded in death by his mother Ruth Tullos Fletcher, father Earl Wayne Fletcher Sr., and beloved wife Sandra Diane Fletcher of 39yrs.
