James Edward Miles, Jr.

Jim was born in Austin, Texas on June 15, 1937, to James and Lena Miles. He was a graduate of Austin High School. Jim left Austin at the age of 19 heading to Odessa, Texas with a friend, who wanted to make his fortune. Ironically, Jim landed a job in Odessa and found the love of his life. Jim married Barbara Ann Crawford on September 22, 1957, in Midland, Texas. Jim and Barbara lived in Odessa from the time they married until September of 2018, when they moved to Georgetown, Texas to be with their family.

Jim worked his entire life in the oil and gas industry before retiring. During his early retirement years, Jim and Barbara enjoyed square dancing and traveling. He also had a love of sports that knew no bounds. He especially loved playing golf with his friends five days a week. Jim and his friends left the weekends for working people.

Jim was an awesome husband, father, father-in-law and PawPaw. He told his Hospice caretaker that his greatest joy and accomplishment was his son, Randy. He was always there for his family.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Miles; his parents, James Edward Miles and Lena Boatright Miles; and his sister, Barbara Sankey. He is survived by his son, Randy Miles and wife, Melanie; grandson, Lane Mitchell Miles from Georgetown, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday, August 26th at 10:00 a.m. at the Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas with a graveside service at 11:00 a.m.
