With heartfelt sorrow, we announce the peaceful passing of Jose Luis Chapa, Jr. on October 21, 2026, at age 45. Jose was born on July 30, 1981, in Laredo, Texas, where he grew up. He later made his home in Austin, where he built his career as a pharmacist, caring for his community and the many people who relied on him. Jose was a respected leader in his field, known for his compassion and humor. These qualities shaped the way he worked and left a lasting mark on his team.
Above all, Jose was a devoted husband and a loving father. His family was the heart of his life, and the love he gave his wife and daughter was steady, generous, and constant. To Claudia, he was a partner and best friend. To Andrea, he was a hero and her biggest fan. To both, he was a source of endless pride and joy.
A shared love of science fiction and fantasy brought the three of them together. Jose, Claudia, and Andrea attended comic conventions, devoured books, and celebrated their love of film. Jose taught Andrea to play video games, and the hours they spent playing side by side became a treasured bond between father and daughter. Music drew them even closer, whether they were listening together at home or sharing the energy of a live concert.
Jose is survived by his wife, Claudia Cantu; his daughter, Andrea Chapa; his parents, Jose Luis Chapa, Sr. and Patricia Chapa; and his brothers, Ricardo Chapa and Christian Chapa. He will be deeply missed by his family and by all who knew him.
