

Bro. Leon Raymond Patterson Jr. was born March 24, 1958; the second child of the late Willie Jean Hines Martin and Leon Raymond Patterson Sr. He began his life journey in the community of Austin, Texas where he attended Austin public schools. Joining the Armed Forces, Air Force Branch in 1978, he would serve his country well stateside. He went on to earn a B.A. degree in Accounting from St. Edwards University, Austin Texas graduating with honors.
Possessing multiple talents, he would be employed in several fields, but most recognized as an employee of South Western Bell, as an Area Manager. He confessed his love and hope in Jesus Christ at an early age at the St. Elmo Baptist Church in Webberville, Texas. He later united with the Berean Baptist Church in Austin Texas, where his Christian faith would lead him to become ordained as a Deacon and a strong faithful servant. He was united in Holy Matrimony, February 17, 2001, to Ida Washington, to whom he remained joined until the end of his journey on May 28, 2015.
A strong man with a kind and giving spirit, who gave unconditional love, strength, and wisdom to those who knew him best, is how he will be remembered. Throughout his life, including the later years he battled physical challenges as a result of health conditions, he remained an example of perseverance, strength, and courage.
He is preceded in death by his mother, the late Willie Jean Martin, his step-father Wilbert Martin, his two children Leon and Leondria Patterson and grandmother Odessa Weaver Jones.
He is survived by his wife Ida Patterson, his father Leon Patterson Sr, his daughter Letisha Patterson, his siblings Stephanie Touchstone, Barry Patterson, Leah Martin Campbell, and Adrienne Patterson-Johnson, his granddaughter Ariana Jackson, 10 nieces and nephews and host of relatives and friends.
