Leona Abrahamson, of Austin, passed away August 29, 2026, at age 99. She was born in Lund, Texas, on October 14, 1926, to Carl and Ida Seaholm. She is survived by daughter Judy Abrahamson, daughter-in-law Trisha Abrahamson, grandchildren Matthew Abrahamson, Andrew and Celeste Abrahamson and great-grandchildren Aiden and Autumn Abrahamson. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack Abrahamson, son Edward Abrahamson, and sisters Alvina Sassman and Marie Pannell.
She graduated Elgin High School in 1944, playing flute and acting as majorette in the band. She learned bookkeeping at Durham Business School in Austin. She married Jack, her high school sweetheart, on June 7, 1946. They were inseparable until his death in 2020. She was a member of St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, Austin, Texas, where she enjoyed women’s circles and helped construct many quilts for Lutheran World Relief. She was active in the Austin Scandinavian Club, Elgin Historical Society and Elgin and Vicinity Swedish Association. She and Jack were enthusiastic polka dancers at the Elgin SPJST Hall.
Funeral arrangements are by Cook Walden Capital Parks in Pflugerville, 14501 N. Interstate 35. Funeral will be Sept. 26, 2026, at 10:00. Memorials may be sent to St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, 606 W. 15th St, Austin, TX 78701 or Hospice Austin, 4107 Spicewood Springs, Austin, TX 78759.
