Lynda A. Johnson

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie H. Smith and Velma A. Doggett; her infant sister, Mary Jo; her brothers, Dewayne Smith and Jim Smith; her sister, Billie Faye Jenkins; her brothers-in-law, Bill Jenkins and Don Mills; and her sisters-in-law, Ethel Smith and Linda Johnson Mills.

Lynda was born on August 23, 1944, in Austin, Texas. She met the love of her life, Thomas “Tom” Wilton Johnson, when she was just 14 years old and he was 15. They married when Lynda was 19 and Tom was 20, beginning a devoted partnership that would span more than six decades. Their enduring love was the foundation of the family they built together.

Lynda was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her beloved husband, Tom; their three sons, Todd and his wife, Teresa; Craig and his wife, Melinda; and Ryan and his wife, Leslie; and her bonus son, Robert Anthony Abeyta, whom she lovingly cared for over many years and welcomed as one of her own. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Gary, and his wife, Judy; and her sisters-in-law, Kerri and her husband, Gil, and Susan Smith.

Known lovingly as “Momma Lynda”—a name Robert Anthony gave her when he was little—she lovingly leaves behind her grandchildren, Caleb Johnson, Brett Johnson, Hannah Johnson, Brooklyn Johnson, Ryan Tanner, Kyle McClure, Chase Johnson, Chloe Johnson, Zachary Starr, Dillon Starr and Brady Starr. She is also survived by her cherished great-grandchildren, Landon Dodson and Kinsley Johnson.

Lynda partnered with Tom in the family business, Johnson Custom Pools, until they both retired. Although she took great pride in helping build the family business, she considered raising their three boys to be her most important work. She devoted her life to loving them, caring for them and teaching them about Jesus Christ.

Lynda had an unwavering faith in Jesus that remained her source of strength, comfort and hope throughout her life. For many years, she was an active member of Grace Church of the Nazarene and Hillcrest Baptist Church, where she shared in worship and Christian fellowship.

When Lynda was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, she showed no fear or sadness, simply saying that her life was in the Lord’s hands. Her only concern was leaving behind Tom, the boy she had loved since she was 14 and the husband with whom she had shared a lifetime of love.

Her love for God was reflected in the gracious way she cared for others. Her door and her arms were always open, and she became a second mom to many, offering love, guidance and a safe place to land. Gentle and generous, she was also fiercely protective of her boys and never hesitated to stand beside them.

Lynda’s love and faith will continue to live on through Tom, their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as through the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Visitation will be held at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660, US, on September 10, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, followed by the Funeral Service at the same location from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

Committal will take place at the adjoining cemetery following the funeral service. .
