Mary Rachel Gibson passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026, at Teresa’s House Senior Living in Argyle, Texas. She was born December 8, 1938, in Tennille, Alabama to Mattie Louvenia and Hampton Patton Ellis. She lived in that area with her parents and 7 siblings until graduating from Troy High School. She married James H Gibson. They raised three children in Austin, Texas.
Rachel brought joy to everyone's life. She was a woman of great faith and steadfastness. Rachel loved to cook and visit with family in her kitchen. Using the first IBM personal computer she created a 600-page cookbook highlighting recipes from many of the National and Historic restaurants in Austin. Rachel also created Rachel's Pecan Pie Company. She designed and produced the pie kit from scratch after many hours of kitchen testing. Rachel completed her dream of having the product for sale on the shelves in HEB stores. First and foremost, she dedicated her life to her family. She loved babies and they always put a huge smile on her face. Her family was her pride and joy.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Hal and Melony Gibson, Karen and Chris Wells, and Mike and Caron Gibson; ten grandchildren: Tiffany, Crispen, Rachel, Paul, Curtis, Holly, Marley, Aria, Matt, Paige; nine great grandchildren: Allen, Braedin, Keegan, Ava, Hayden, Harper, Vivienne, Clarke, Wyatt; and four siblings: Ruth Ward, Sue Lowery, Ron Ellis, and Sarah Ellis.
Funeral services will be held on Friday May 29, 2026, at 1pm at Cook-Walden, 14501 N. IH 35, Pflugerville, Texas.
