It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved cousin, Robert E. (Bob) Davis, 72, of Round Rock, Texas, on January 18, 2025. Born February 11, 1952, in Yoakum, Texas, Bob was the only child of Lafayette Earle Davis and Dorothy Inez Breeden Davis.
Bob attended school in Yoakum, Texas and graduated from Yoakum High School in 1970 and from The University of Texas in Austin with a degree in Journalism in 1975. While at the University, he began his long, illustrious career in law enforcement, serving with both the University of Texas Police Department and the Austin Police Department. Bob retired from the Austin Police Department on January 31, 2003, as a Senior Police Officer.
He proudly served as a police officer, exemplifying courage, integrity, and compassion. This earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and all who knew him.
Outside of his career, Bob had a special bond with dogs, who brought him immense joy and companionship. Whether it was rescuing strays, spending time with his own beloved pets, or supporting local animal welfare causes, his love for animals was as big as his heart.
Robert leaves behind a family of cousins who were more than just relatives- they were confidants and many lifelong friends. Together, we shared countless memories of laughter, love, and adventure. His absence leaves a void in our hearts, but his legacy of kindness, courage, and loyalty will endure forever.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, with visitation at 10 a.m. and services following at 11 a.m. at Cook Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 N. Interstate Hwy 35, Pflugerville, TX. Family, friends, and colleagues are invited to join us in honoring Bob’s life and service to the community. Internment will be January 29, 2025 at 3 p.m. at the Hochheim Cemetery in Hochheim, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Austin Humane Society or the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter.
Rest in peace, Robert Earle Davis.
