Robert Tucker Mitchell, 72, passed away peacefully at home on October 24, 2026, in Cedar Park, Texas. He was born on March 18, 1954, in Austin, Texas. Known affectionately to many as Bob or Bobby, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and for many years, a familiar face in the local community.
He spent his career with the United States Postal Service, and retired as the Postmaster of the Florence, Texas branch. Over his many years of service, Bob was known for his steady work ethic, his kindness to colleagues, and his commitment to the community.
A lifelong golfer and Texas Longhorns fan, Bob was happiest when he was out on the green, cheering on his team, and occasionally, experimenting in the kitchen. His retirement years brought a welcomed, slower pace. Though his world grew smaller and quieter in later years, his witty charm with others never faded.
Outside of his career, Bob found his greatest joy in being a proud and doting grandfather. From the moment his grandchildren were born, they became the center of his world, and he adored them completely.
He was preceded in death by his father, Tucker Mitchell; his mother, Mary (Conn) Mitchell; and his wife, Carol (Griffith) Mitchell. He is survived by his children: daughter, Laura Mitchell; son, David Mitchell; and his two cherished grandchildren, Clark and Mary Claire.
A celebration of life will be held to honor Bob’s memory. Detailed information will be provided by the family as soon as arrangements are finalized.
With sincere appreciation to Gentiva Hospice and Senior Sitters for the wonderful care and kindness they provided during his final months.
