

Bob was born on September 15, 1934, in Davenport, Iowa. He graduated from Davenport High School in 1953. Bob married his childhood sweetheart, Deanna Lamer, on October 2, 1953, in Hernando, Mississippi. They have enjoyed 72 years together raising five children, twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Bob worked as an Electronic Technician first at Bendix Aviation Corp in Davenport then Elliott Flying Service and at Quad City Airport in Moline. He also had his own repair service, Mobilair Radio, Inc with his brother-in-law and friend. Bob specialized in the two-way radios on barges. He continued his career in 1966 at Eagle Signal in Davenport, until moving with the company in 1976 to Texas, making his home in Round Rock. After retiring from Eagle Signal, he began his own business and continued to service traffic controllers, selling his business in 1999 and began building his home in Hutto. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, fishing and restoring his 1947 Farmall tractor. He was a ham radio operator since obtaining his license in the fall of 1950.
He was actively involved in President of Electronics club in high school. He was a Member of the Scott County Rescue Unit which began in 1960 to aid officials in search and rescue. He was also a member of the volunteer fire department. He served in the Naval Reserves from 1952-1960. He was active in his church, serving on the board and as a deacon. He was also in leadership of the Royal Rangers Ministry.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son Kenneth, and sister Betty Tague.
Bob is survived by his wife Deanna; children, Dan (Ann) Thompson, Robin (Roger) Martin, Dennis Thompson and Karen (Rick) Sliva; twelve grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; sisters Bonny Thompson and Beverly Goulet; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank HelpGivers, Cornerstone Care Giving and Compassus Hospice for the care and compassion they showed Bob in his last days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Bob's Life at Georgetown Church of The Nazarene, 4051 E. University Ave, Georgetown, TX 78626 on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. Visitation with the family will follow the service.
