Tommy Doyle Brown

Tommy Doyle Brown, 78, of Austin, Texas, passed away on August 14, 2026.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Louise Brown; his son, Damon Brown (and wife Dina) of Austin, Texas; his daughter, Keri Brown Womack (and husband Ben) of Houston, Texas; his stepson, David Rogers (and wife Angelica) of Austin, Texas; his grandchildren, Erica (and husband Frank), Mathew, Dionna, Cash, Dylan, Julia, and Will; his great-grandchildren, Jordan, A.J., Michael, and Julian; his brother, Jan Brown (and wife Linda) of Burleson, Texas; his sister-in-law, Mary Douglas of Murphy, Texas. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and their families.

Tommy was born at home in Hubbard, Texas, to William Doyle and Jodie Addice Collier Brown. He joined his three older brothers, W.D. Jr., Don, and Jan, completing the family. Tommy attended Hubbard schools, where he was a star athlete and captain of both his football and baseball teams. He graduated in 1966 and attended Navarro College. Tommy went on to serve in the United States Army, including tours in Vietnam and Germany.

After his military service and time spent owning and operating an Exxon gas station on LaSalle Avenue in Waco, Tommy built his career at the Texas Department of Public Safety, working in both Waco and Austin. Drawing on his experience in the Army Signal Corps, he eventually became a communications supervisor in DPS’s Austin office. He retired in 1999. In the years that followed, Louise devoted herself to caring for him, remaining by his side throughout the remainder of his life.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, W.D. and Addice Brown; his brothers, W.D. Brown, Jr. and Don Collier Brown; his grandson, Jonathan Rogers; his niece, Sonna Dea Brown; and his nephew, Alvah Dwain Brown.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 11 am. at Fairview Cemetery in Hubbard, Texas. A reception will follow. Attendees are encouraged to dress for the weather, not for the family.
